You could feel the excitement and love Juliet and Charles had in the lead up to their Orua Beach House wedding day from the moment they began their journey with us.
Now you have had time to digest and reflect on your wedding day, is there anything you would do differently?
I don’t think there is anything I would do differently! Everything worked out so perfectly on the day I couldn’t believe it! I adored how the decor looked in real life (better than what I envisioned in my mind) and each moment flowed smoothly throughout the day, it was so dreamy and unforgettable. I remember someone saying that the dance floor was overflowing as every guest was dancing, so maybe we could have done with a bigger one, however I think the size we had made the dance floor feel busy in the best way!
Is there a moment or part of your day that is etched into your mind, that you will just never forget?
Our first dance was definitely the most unforgettable moment of the day. Following the final speeches, which left us in stitches and a few tears flowing, there was an incredible energy from everyone in the marquee. We also got lucky with a stunning sunset that happened exactly as we started our dance. I’m so happy we chose a slower song (Still The One by Shania Twain) because we could be completely present so soak that moment in; I just remember so clearly the warmth in the marquee and the vividness of the colours around us, from the sky to the fairy lights to all our guests’ summery outfits. Following our dance, my mother ran up to us bawling and told us that it was the most beautiful moment of her life! Our photographer captured all of this, so it’s amazing that we can look back on these memories forever. Everyone was so emotional at that point as I think it signalled the conclusion of such a beautiful day, it made this point of the night more special.
When planning your wedding day, what details did you stress over, and what did you let slide?
Because I planned the finer details of the day myself, I sort of had to ‘stress’ over everything. I did prioritise choosing businesses I felt had the experience and quality products to make the day amazing, which ultimately lead to the day and the lead up to it flowing smoothly and having the best atmosphere. Some things I did to maximise the budget were designing our invitations, menus and signage myself, as well as having some bridesmaids / family set up cheese platters for the canapés, and having fruit on the tables to supplement the florals.
What would be your one piece of advice for those currently planning their wedding day?
I would focus on one detail at a time wherever possible, and lay out an order of tasks to work through from most imminent to least, leaving the final details to work through at the end. I would also get a wedding coordinator to have on the day, as this made a world of difference!
