FOCUS | A Lucy’s Bride - Jessica

“A big thank you to Lucy and her wonderful team for helping make our wedding day a fairytale. We hired a 10m x 25m clear marquee, with flooring and furniture. Lucy, Paola and the rest of the team were responsive, understood our brief and went above and beyond to ensure that the products were of the best quality. We are really appreciative for the seamless process and would recommend Lucy's to others!”

Is there a moment or part of your day that is etched into your mind, that you will just never forget?

Everyone says that your wedding day is the best day of your life and it really is, I can't possibly narrow it down to just one moment as it is all etched in my mind! However, if I had to pick a couple of moments they would be:

1- Waking up at McCallum Residence and opening the curtains to the most beautiful weather. My mum, bridesmaids and I really embraced it with a relaxing beach walk and coffee to start the day.

2 - Walking down the aisle with my dad towards all our guests, and of course Matt. As the aisle was so long, it was a really good opportunity to take in how beautifully everything had come together.

3 - Sharing a moment just us after I got changed into my second dress. We practised our first dance, had an espresso martini and watched the day from afar.

4 - Our dance floor! Our first dance was to L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, it involved our dance, a live sax solo and the cancan with our whole bridal party. This created such a magical energy and really kicked off the party.

Tell us about your vision and how it came together?

McCallum Residence was my dream venue from the moment I heard about it. When it became a reality, we were so focused on embracing and emphasising everything that it was. The water, the gardens, the greenery and the beautiful historic home covered in vines really set the scene for a relaxed yet luxurious day. We wanted our guests to feel like they had been transported somewhere magical, with good food, good wine, good company, good music and a beautiful setting, we wanted them to feel relaxed and have fun. With the help of all our fantastic vendors, we really felt that it came together in that way.

When planning your wedding day, what details did you stress over, and what did you let slide?

We planned our wedding while living in London, so there were definitely times where it felt a bit overwhelming. The biggest stress was juggling lots of moving parts from afar in different timezones - weddings are not cheap ventures, so I really put (maybe too much!) pressure on myself for it all to work out perfectly, which thankfully it did. We were also very focused on embracing all parts of our, very outdoor centric, venue so I had many nightmares of cyclones and wet weather events leading up to the day... happily none of which came true!

What would be your one piece of advice for those currently planning their wedding day?

So many things! Firstly, a running checklist on your Notes app will be your best friend - put every thought that comes into your mind into it and just work through the list as you go. Secondly and most importantly, we were blessed with Lisa (With Love by Lisa) as our celebrant and wedding coordinator. She made the whole process so relaxed, we are so so so grateful for her - highly recommended a planner or coordinator to help ease the load.

Now you have had time to digest and reflect on your wedding day, is there anything you would do different?

The day was truly so dreamy.. I can't think of anything we could have done other than that we could have ordered slightly heavier flower arrangements for the head table... the breeze from the ocean kept blowing them away so we ended up with no flowers up there (tip for future McCallum brides!). However, no one would have noticed, it's such a minor point and everything else came together so perfectly.
