Privacy Policy

Louisiana Lucy Ltd, trading as Lucy's

Last updated: 1 September 2026

Lucy's takes your right to privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and is written to meet our obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are

Louisiana Lucy Ltd, trading as Lucy's, hires out marquees, market umbrellas, furniture, table linen and napery for weddings, private functions and corporate events. We deliver, set up and pack down. If you have any question about this policy or about information we hold about you, email us at lucy@lucysevents.com.

What we collect

When you make an enquiry or place an order with us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, the date of your event, the venue or delivery address, the approximate number of guests, the type of event, the items you are interested in hiring, any notes you give us about the site or the ground surface, how you heard about us, and the content of any messages you send us. If you go on to book, we also hold the information needed to invoice and deliver, including billing details and delivery instructions.

We do not ask for and do not want your credit card or bank details through our website or through any advertisement. Payments are handled directly between you and us, or through our accounting provider.

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you: through the enquiry form on our website, through enquiry forms attached to our advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, by email, by phone, by text, and in conversation. We may also collect information from a third party where you have asked them to deal with us on your behalf, for example a wedding planner, a venue or an event organiser.

Our website also collects limited technical information automatically, described under Cookies and tracking below.

Why we use it

We use your personal information to respond to your enquiry, to check availability, to prepare and send you a quote, to arrange and carry out delivery, set up and pack down, to invoice you and manage payment, to keep records required for tax and business purposes, and to deal with any issue that arises during a hire.

If you have asked to hear from us, we may also send you occasional marketing about our hire range and availability. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by replying to us and asking.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent contact lists.

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is needed to do the job you have asked us to do, or where we are required to:

  • Suppliers and sub-hire partners, where an item on your order comes from another hire company or where a subcontractor is carrying out delivery, install or pack down.

  • Our accounting and invoicing provider, for quoting, invoicing and payment records.

  • Our website host and form provider, which stores enquiries submitted through the website.

  • Meta Platforms, where you submit an enquiry through a form attached to one of our Facebook or Instagram advertisements. Information you enter into those forms is provided to us by Meta, and Meta also handles it under its own Data Policy.

  • Professional advisers, insurers, or a debt recovery agency, where that is reasonably necessary.

  • Any person or body we are legally required to disclose to.

Some of these providers store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that comparable protections apply.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, to understand how visitors use it, and to measure the performance of our advertising. This includes the Meta pixel, which tells us in aggregate how many people visited a page or made an enquiry after seeing one of our ads.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do. You can also control how your information is used for advertising through your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry information for as long as it is useful to answer your enquiry and to follow up on it. Where a booking goes ahead, we keep the order and financial records for at least seven years, as required for New Zealand tax purposes. After that we delete or archive information that we no longer need.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access or disclosure. Access to our records is limited to people in the business who need it to do their job.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to correct anything that is wrong. You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing, or ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold.

To make any of these requests, email lucy@lucysevents.com. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first at lucy@lucysevents.com so we have a chance to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on our website is the current one, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed.

One caveat worth stating plainly: I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. This policy is written to describe what your business actually does and to satisfy Meta's requirement for a genuine privacy page. If you want certainty that it covers everything for your circumstances, have your solicitor read it — it is a short document and should not cost much to check.
